My friend and Chiropractor Pete had a talk at his office this week along with other professionals. We started a 40 days challenge today. And I want to share a little what I set as a goal to myself!
Goal #1:
After a quick look on my bank statement I saw I had 5 purchases on different fast food places and all of those visits were at a drive-thru and most likely eaten in the car (and I bet there are a couple of cash/credit card visits within the past week too)
Last month just on my debit card I had 16 visits to a fast food restaurant. So pretty much every other day. (and I'm sure there's at least another 10 on Dan's credit card from times he brought home dinner)
So my goal for the this challenge it's to cut this number drastically. I know that most of the times when you “cut” something so radically most likely you will go back to it but I can't give myself the “room” to think this way. Not when it comes to fast food; because here it's not about favorite food, flavor, lack of time or anything else important – it's pure laziness.
So I would love to see this number a 0 in 40 days. It would make me extremely happy! However I think setting a goal of 4 (once a week) sounds very realistic to me.
And this one is not just for me but for my whole family! =) My mind goes on and on for hours thinking the numerous ideas for alternatives and I'm just excited to see it happening to us as a family!
This will be really hard on me (and me only not on the whole family – really) but I challenged because I KNOW I CAN DO IT! =) ~And because it is an issue in my life that needs to be addressed!
Goal #2
Since my first goal was not so personal I would like to set myself a goal as well. I weighted myself this morning before any meals, wearing my pjs and my number was 216 so over this 6 weeks I would love to see this number to drop to 210.
I don't want to overwhelm myself with all this new challenges so I won't necessarily have goals for workouts and or food intake. I will just do little changes everyday as the day fly by and who knows maybe just by sticking with no fast foods will bring me to goal #2 easier! =)
I have a pretty big list of other goals I want to achieve as well – but for now I must stick with these two and do it well and leave the other ones to the next 325 days of the year! =)

My Daphys!
They had just opened up on Wednesday so when the weather called for snow I was worried they would not make it! Buuuut - They survived the snow from Friday :)
And hopefully that was cold enough to make them come back next year (I really don't believe so - but hope needs to stick around)

LapTopless
My lap top is officially dead - Isn't it sad to see this?
I'm not surprised! This LT has fallen at least 50 times, has survived Benjamin and Noah and their dirty hands, water spills and more!
And from all the people on Friday then dropped it and the screen cracked all over! Al least it happened with him not me! =))) hehehe
Now starting to save money to get a new one and looking for good deals. I sent my mom the netbook so I'm literally Laptopless for a little while!
A must see - HA!!
Did you see the post about Yoga? Well - if you did this will be very funny to you; if not it will be funny anyway!!!
Item for sale at Big K for $19,99
Yes! I was at K-mart! And as much as I despite that place I found a TON of great deals!

Parenthood - welcome to the group!
There's a list of shows I watch weekly, not too bad thanks to DVR and skipping commercials makes into nothing more then 5 hour/week which I don't consider bad!
But I'm specially in love with this new show on NBC called Parenthood. They being working on it for quite a while, if I'm not mistaking on of the producers even had an aneurysm and died on the set and they had all kinds of set back- but all worth the wait - it's an awesome show!
The history of 4 siblings, 2 women and 2 men with each of their families. There is a little of everything! A stay at home dad and it's hard working wife, the party Crosby that just now found out he has a son as well, the mother of 2 teens that married the rock star and it's parenting all on her own and the family with a special needs child. The grandparents are always involved and they have problems of their on!
Great cast - they have among quite a few popular stars it's Lauren Graham as Sarah, Max Burkholder as Max doing a terrific job and my favorite Peter Krause as Adam!
Real
To top it up the series has a great sound track! Lot's of Bob Dylan and lots of other good songs!
So go to the site to catch up with the passed episodes and make sure to set "record" on your DVR because sure it's worth it! ;)
Amazing Grace at Yoga
I'm a Christian but I think I'm pretty relaxing with many things that other Christians aren't.
I'm not too worried about things that are "bad". I try to have an unique relationship with God. He has made me unique - there is no other Lilian out there - nothing even close to the original me - and that is the true to everyone, so when it comes to my relationship with God I live it unique as well. The things He touches in my heart to do it or convicts me not to do it I don't and other things that "traditional" Christian consider not ok do not bother me. Well - confusing, I'm sure but I will get to my point here soon.
Many Christians are against doing yoga. They talk about how the positions are worshiping other gods and it's "not Christian".
Well I believe that whatever "bad" this exercise could possibly bring into your life "subliminally" is not as powerful as my God and unless I feel bothered by it or God personally asks me to stop I just don't give "it" the power to affect me.
So I read this book called "Eat right for your blood type" and surprisingly it said that cardio exercises are not the best for me! I used to LOVE cardio but I think I'm so overweight that I don't have the energy to do cardio. I will do it one day and be in pain for another 4 weeks! lol But anyways, the book actually said that Pilates, yoga and other core exercises would actually kick my metabolism and "do the job" of a cardio. So after months considering and planning and hoping and looking at class's price and schedule - Finally, a few weeks ago I made it to my first class. I tried Pilates with quite a few different teacher and also yoga. Never gave many time to think about the spiritual part of it since I was just taking classes at our local community center not on a studio (as far as I noticed, studios take the whole spiritual side of it much deeper).
So after 3 or 4 lessons this one lady had music during her class. Music doesn't bother me except it kept repeating over and over again name of Indian gods and a humming sound - than THAT bothered me! It sounded like one of those music that stay in your head and you can't stop singing like the Mac Donald's "Give me back that filet - o fish, give me that fish!" so I didn't really want to listen to it.
I was thinking if I sing that or if it stays in my mind I will feel very uncomfortable and like I'm worshiping other gods. So kindly I asked the teacher to turn it down cause it was hard to hear here (and it really was) so she did and I finished that class. Decided that I would not go back to this one teacher (I have quite a few to choose from); and that decision wasn't made just over the music, besides the music that really did bothered me the whole class was very spiritual and I didn't like her paste and the sound of her voice.
So today I woke up with this AWFUL migraine. The pain was killing me and the pharmacy that had my prescription refill only opened at noon, so I was trying to relax all morning waiting for the pharmacy so I decided to go to the Sunday yoga class. This one teacher doesn't have any other classes but this one on Sunday's that are not for beginners but I just needed to stretch, breath and relax; so I went.
So all this post is just to say WOW! =)
The teacher was very very nice, calm and very concerned and yes - she played music during her class. Mostly Enya, and other pretty funny songs for Yoga, songs you can hear on the "Shrek" soundtrack. So I was very pleased with the whole experience....
The last 15 minutes comes, = relaxation and she talks a little about what we are feeling and why we are in this class and for us to meditate... I was thinking "ok I will just relax, if I can't clear my mind I will just breath and pray."
And the new "calmer" song starts for relaxation and what song is first? AMAZING GRACE! =)
So how awesome was to relax after this massive workout and stretch to the sound of Christian music! =)
To finish it up with a cherry on top by the time I left the class my migraine was gone! =)))

Update on the tennis
Turns out we learned a lot about tennis this past 2 days. Ben played so hard with the racquets K got him that they felt apart. Later we learned why – its because those were Badminton’s racquets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badminton). He was still into it so without thinking much we just decided to invest on it. We went to Play it again sports and we learned the difference between jrs and adult racquets. We got Ben a nice racquet and as well one for Dan & I and balls. He played for the rest of the afternoon! It totally surprised me that he was ok with not being able to do it right the way. He was being patience and trying so hard but still having fun with it!
I do not regret! =) Now I need to get on the ball and make sure I sign him up for April classes.

Thanks Kristin!
We being talking about Benjamin doing a sport as an extra activity after school but we just never take the time to go sign him up (awful parents - I know!). We lost AGAIN the sign up for SAY Soccer so when I got the local Community Center paper right the way I started reading and marking the ones I was thinking were a good idea: Soccer - Karate - Gymnastics - Tennis - Golf, Swimming...
Well, after talking to daddy and Ben about it, B was no way to be flexible - he had his heart and mind set into TENNIS! =)
Great!!! I'm loving it I think it's awesome and at no means I want to be negative I just know how my son works.
He will take the racket and believe he can hit all the balls easily like he does on the WII game. I talked to him about it and explained and explained! It requires lots of work and concentration!
Anyways the classes don't start until April and Ben is a bag full of anxiety waiting for this class to start! I don't want to go out and get him the gears just yet because I want to make sure he is really gonna be into it! I posted a little note on Facebook to see if anyone had an extra one laying around to let us use or for sale. K found a pair at a GW store and got it for him and Noah!
And the rest you can see:
Facebook post looking for raquets: Free
Pair of raquets gifted from Kristin: $0,50
Ben loveing it so much he felt asleep with it: Priceless!

Lost in translation - AGAIN!
This is an old post I wrote back in FEb and it's being sitting on my desktop waiting to be translated (as many other ones are) so they just never make it in! =)
Anyways; you think that being in this country for 8 yrs I would now some things by now. Well, apparently not as much as I should – or wish!
This is the first year that the kids are in school and we are here on Valentine's day; so this beautiful letter comes from the school asking that the kids bring in cards enough to everyone in the class (12) by Friday.
Benjamin and I spend a whole afternoon making our own cards. Not because I didn't want to spend $12 bucks at Hallmark but because I was being a smart ass thinking:
“We are not just gonna buy cards and write your name Ben – we are actually gonna make out own!!!”
So we did – it took us close to 4 hours because Ben wanted to make each one of them, and we put them on the envelopes and all... they were big large cards and I was so freaking proud of it!
Just until Friday when Ben brought his bag with all the other kid's cards!
They were these little tinny bit cards that you get on the store for like $1 and it's like an 8x11 sheet and you just pull them apart, close and write the kid's name on it! Some came with tattoos, stickers, some with candy...
Weeeelllllllllll if you ever seen the valentine's day cards I'm talking about it you know by know how stupid I felt! =oPPP

Theeeese are what the kids give to each other! They are 1x1 "regular" paper mini cards ~ LOOOOL
Random dozen
I read this meme at a blog I follow- how got it from a blog she follows and decided that since I don't have anything going on right now it would be fun to do it! =)))
So here it goes!
1. How old is the oldest pair of shoes in your closet?
This is sad but it's about 10 years old. It's this pair Of Sandals I got when I started college, I'm 2 sizes bigger since (1 size each pregnancy) But I think because back then I was on my "days of glory" gorgeous and rocking I can't let it go! Isn't that sad?
2. Did you buy Girl Scout cookies this year? If so, what variety?
No I didn't but my husband did! I'm not sure what kind! He spent about $25 - told me about and has it in his office! "HOW RUDE!"
3. Do you know how to ballroom dance? If not, would you like to?
I really don't know if I even would like to learn. I just don't see a situation that I will be dancing it!!!
But I guess so because it's so good to be an incredible woman! lol
4. Were you a responsible child/teenager?
I believe so! I was a pretty good student, grades were good, and when I see what teens are like today it makes me feel like I was so great! I helped mom and dad a lots; but yet my parents gave us great education/manners and they did a really good job with us I think. In the other hand I did my share with not following the rules and partying around! =)))
Nothing that I wouldn't consider a great lesson! =)
Now that is a question that I would love to (and I will) ask my mother. I'm now curious to know her point of view!
5. How many of this year's Oscar-nominated movies did you see?
I'm not even sure what movies were nominated so it's hard to tell. Maybe 1 or 2 I would day...
6. If you're going to have a medical procedure done, such as having blood drawn, is it easier for you to watch someone else having the procedure done or have it done yourself?
I will make Bekah's words mine: "I have had soooo many medical procedures done that I don’t even blink and eye when something new is done to me! But it is completely awful to see my kids get a shot or blood drawn."
7. What is your favorite day of the week and why?
Thursdays I think! =) It's still week day, but I'm usually cut up with the weekly chores and we have nothing going on Thurs nights (usually) so we all have good family time, there are great shows on TV - only one more week days before the weekend and if we are lucky we'll have Friday off and have a great 3 days weekend!!!!
8. Do you miss anyone right now?
My parents and sister, but most my dad because I know mom will be here anytime and I will get to see my sister soon but just to know I can't even chat with dad on the phone or see on the camera - it hurts more.
9. Do hospitals make you queasy?
It depends - I like to think of births and life when I think of one.
10. At which store would you like to max-out your credit card. Not that you ever would, you responsible person, you.
If it had to be in ONE store I would have to say Target.
11. Are you true to the brand names of products/items?
Not necessarily!
12. Which is more difficult: looking into someone’s eyes when you are telling someone how you feel, or looking into someone’s eyes when he/she is telling you how he/she feels?
When I'm telling them.

Always listen to your grandma's advice
I would not recommend anyone to eat a banana covered in Nutella before bed time.
It's way past my bed time and I'm laying here staring at the ceiling feeling like crap! I should of listened to my grandma!

Green nuggets
For lunch today the boys had spinach & potato nuggets, strawberries and a few cheese balls.
Benjamin eat most of the nuggets having no idea what the green was - and when he was almost done he said:
"Mom, I'm eating this green thing, but I'm a afraid - what if this is Guacalome?"
L O L !
So much for a healthier lunch - after I told him it was spinach he left all the rest on his plate! =(
